Schwettman center principal injured trying to break up fight
A Schwettman Education Center principal was injured Friday when he was punched and kicked by a student, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. Deputies said Principal Randy Koeningsfeld was trying to break up a fight involving two students about 8:20 a.m. when one of the students ignored warnings and began punching and kicking Koeningsfeld. During the scuffle, the student and Koeningsfeld went to the ground, causing Koeningsfeld to injure his back and right knee, deputies said. The student, of New Port Richey, was arrested and taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center in Land O' Lakes. He was charged as a juvenile and faces one felony count of battery against a school employee, deputies said.
