Pregnant woman struck by hit-and-run driver in Pasco

A pregnant woman was being treated for minor injuries after she was struck today by a hit-and-run driver in Holiday, deputies said.

Crystal Lynn Noordhuizen, 32, who is 7 months pregnant, was walking on the shoulder of Westwood Drive near U.S. 19 in Holiday about 2 p.m. when her boyfriend, Justin Lee Colby, 33, drove off the road in a 2006 Dodge Charger that struck her, according to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

After crashing into a pole, Colby got out of the Charger and walked to his nearby home where he fled on a white motorcycle, deputies said.

Late Monday night, Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Colby, who was charged with attempted murder.

Noordhuizen was taken to Bayonet Point Hospital with minor injuries.

According to the sheriff’s office investigators, Noordhuizen told detectives that she had gotten into an argument on Monday with Colby. She left their Holiday home and was walking on Westwood Drive to wait for an acquaintance to pick her up. While she walked, she received a phone call on her cell phone from Colby, the sheriff’s office said.

According to sheriff’s investigators, Colby, who knew she was pregnant, said to her, “Are you ready for your abortion date?”

Colby then drove his Dodge Charger east on Westwood Drive. He drove it off the road and struck Noordhuizen, the sheriff’s offie said.

After she was struck by Dodge Charger, Noordhuizen saw Colby get out of the vehicle. He never assited Noordhuizen. She also recognized his vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.

The incident was captured on surveillance camera, the sheriff’s office said. A sheriff’s investigator identified Colby on the surveillance video getting out of the vehicle after the crash.

Pasco County jail records show Colby has been arrested several times on charges including aggravated assault and lewd and lascivious battery.
