A Pasco County woman was sentenced today in federal court to eight years in prison for tax fraud, according to U.S. Attorney A. Lee Bentley III.
U.S. District Judge Susan C. Bucklew also ordered Selathiel Frazier, 29, to repay $4,039,238. Frazier pleaded guilty on March 26.
According to court documents, Frazier took part in a scheme to file fraudulent tax returns to receive refunds. During the investigation, law enforcement officers searched her home and found thousands of names and Social Security numbers. They also recovered more than $60,000 in cash, multiple cars, and other proceeds of the scheme.
This case was investigated by the Tampa Police Department, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and the Internal Revenue Service - Criminal Investigation.
