A 43-year-old New Port Richey woman was charged with child neglect Monday after she admitted to smoking marijuana and then driving her car with two children as passengers, according to the Pasco Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy was at the home of Gina Marie Rossel, 7832 Cayuga Drive, as part of a child abuse investigation when the arrest occurred, an arrest report said. Rossel told the deputy that she had smoked marijuana in the last hour and a half., the report said.
As the deputy was talking with a child protective investigator, Rossel got into her vehicle and pulled into the street with two minor children, the report said. The deputy waved her down. Rossel got out of the car, leaving it in the middle of the street. She failed a field sobriety test, the report said.
Rossel also was charged with driving under the influence. She was being held in the Land O’ Lakes jail under $2,500 bond.
