FIRST TEAM Kaitlyn Blount, Zephyrhills, Sr. Helped take home the Bulldogs first district title in more than a decade, then led this surprising 12-8 squad to region semifinals. Jessica Johnson, Bishop McLaughlin, Sr.After two seasons at Land O' Lakes and two more for Bishop, Johnson, easily one of the county's best hitters (403 kills, 1,073 for career) and a Norfolk State commit, led the region semifinalist Hurricanes to its best season ever (16-9) and first postseason berth with district runner up title. Alexis Garcia, Anclote, Jr. Took over leadership of a young Sharks squad that saw its first state tournament action with a district runner up title. Lacey Carley, Hudson, Sr. Put up a team-high 68 aces, 77 kills and 270 digs while leading the Cobras to an 18-9 record before falling to Anclote in the district semis. Toni Imbimbo, Fivay, Jr. With an eye-popping 514 digs, plus 97 kills and 42 aces, led an impressive second-year squad that had its chances to go deep into districts. COACH OF THE YEAR Dan Muir, Zephyrhills By taking a squad full of experience and veteran leadership, Muir pushed his team's right buttons throughout the district playoffs and grabbed the Bulldogs' first district title since 1999. And it wasn't easy. It took five games to push past Ridgewood in the semifinals, only to take another exhausting five in the region quarterfinals for Zephyrhills deepest playoff run in more than a decade.
