Two Pasco County teenagers were seriously injured when they ran out into traffic on County Line Road Saturday night and were struck by a passing pickup truck.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers identified the victims as Kacie Barns, 15, of Spring Hill and Jayce Grines, 14, of Land O’ Lakes. Both were flown by helicopter to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa where they were admitted in serious condition, troopers said.
The incident occurred just after 9 p.m. when the teens were walking along the north side of County Line Road just east of Shady Hills Road. Both then tried to cross the road and ran into traffic, where they were struck by an eastbound 2005 Chevrolet pickup driven by Steven Edward Moschella, 30, of New Port Richey.
Neither Moschella nor a passenger, identified as Stacey Marie Barton, 29, St. Petersburg, were injured.
No charges were immediately filed.
