A quick-acting mother rescued her 17-month-old son from the bottom of a Hudson swimming pool Tuesday and revived the child using CPR, deputies said.
The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said the child was expected to recover.
Deputies and Pasco County Fire Rescue were called to 11014 Pinto Drive at 9:08 a.m. Tuesday and learned of the mother’s actions.
Earlier in the morning, the boy was playing with siblings in a bedroom when the mother briefly left the room, deputies said. Moments later, she noticed a sliding glass door was open. The door, which leads to the pool, had been closed and was typically locked, deputies said.
The mother then found her son at the bottom of the pool, immediately jumped in and pulled the child out, deputies said. She then performed CPR.
Although the child was alert and showing good vital signs, he was flown to a local hospital by helicopter for safety precautions, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
The incident remains under investigation.
