Early morning work on a house led a New Port Richey man to push a friend’s neighbor and toss his tools on the lawn Saturday morning, according to the Pasco Sheriff’s Office.
Donald Paul Cakouros, 76, 5207 Turquoise Lane, is charged with a felony count of battery on a victim 65 years old or older.
About 9 a.m., Cakouros arrived at his friend’s 5717 Salt Kettle Court home in New Port Richey. His friend had called him, upset about noise made by her neighbor, an arrest report said.
Cakouros’s friend, Patricia Hayes, 74, was also upset her neighbor had used the easement between the two properties to access parts of his house.
As work was being performed on the roof next door and on a wall between the properties, Cakouros went to the house to confront the neighbor, Eric Nelson, 70.
Cakouros grabbed Nelson’s ladder and tools and threw them on the front lawn, according to the arrest report. Cakouros then used his shoulder to push Nelson back about four feet, deputies said.
The incident was witnessed by the roofer working on Nelson’s home.
Nelson told deputies he notified Hayes several days prior to the work that he needed access to his home from her yard and received her approval.
Cakouros was released from the Land O’ Lakes Jail on Saturday after posting a $5,000 bond.
