LUTZ — A Pasco-based flight training business is expanding its Lutz facility and creating 75 jobs, mostly in the fields of training, engineering, and production.
TRU Simulation + Training is converting the 60,000-square-foot building into a state-of-the art “ProFlight” training facility that is certified by the Federal Aviation Administration. The building’s high bays allow pilots to train in high-fidelity, full-motion simulators as part of their training. Beginning this month, the company will begin offering instructor led training for pilots of Cessna CJ1/2/3 and Conquest I and II series aircraft. By fall, ProFlight expects to also begin offering entitlement training for new Beechcraft King Air turboprops outfitted with the Pro Line Fusion avionics system.
The Pasco Economic Development Council worked closely with officials at the parent company, Textron, to expedite the permitting so it could retrofit the building in time for the new training program to be launched at the facility, which is just off the Suncoast Parkway. The EDC also helped TRU Simulation apply for job creation incentives allowing it to expand its workforce to meet the needs of the training program.
“Textron is an outstanding addition to the Pasco business portfolio,” EDC President John Hagen said. “The addition of 75 high value jobs is very important to our community,” He added: “TRU Simulation + Training will advance our interests in growing the aviation, unmanned aerial systems, simulation, and gaming industries, so this is a big win and potentially the start of something even bigger.”
The facility recently expects to receive certification as an Aircraft Training Organization by the European Aviation Safety Agency. Pilot training for additional Cessna aircraft models is expected to be added at this location in the future.
