A Pasco County driver was killed Sunday when he lost control of his car and became airborne before crashing into a wooded area.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 29-year-old Jared Ross Jung of Trilby was driving a 1997 Honda Civic northbound on Old Trilby Road, approaching the driveway to 32540 Old Trilby Road, on Saturday around 2 a.m. when he drove onto a grass shoulder off the roadway.
The FHP said Jung then drove down a slight grass embankment before crashing into a large log. The impact forced his car to go airborne and travel off the driveway access and into the wooden area, overturning on its roof about 130 feet away from the initial impact.
Jung, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported to Bayfront Medical Center and died on Sunday, the FHP said.
Investigators are determining whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.
