Obstetrician Weiss staying despite PRMC’s halting of deliveries
DADE CITY - Pasco Regional Medical Center’s recent announcement that the hospital will stop delivering babies beginning in September led some people to think obstetrician Michael Weiss would cease practicing. That’s not the case, the Pasco County doctor said. Weiss wants patients and potential patients to know he still will deliver babies and perform other procedures in his area of expertise. “I’m still here to stay, and I’m open for business,” the doctor said. “I already have privileges at Florida Hospital Zephyrhills. I’ve been delivering babies and doing gynecological procedures there until now, and I’m in the process of getting privileges at the new hospital at Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel.” Weiss also will keep practicing gynecology and related surgeries at Pasco Regional Medical Center, where he has been since 2006. The only services being discontinued there are the delivery of the babies and the care after birth.Weiss has offices in Dade City and Zephyrhills. He plans to open a third office near Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel.
