Pasco County is welcoming the 81st American Association of Nude Recreation Convention, Monday through Aug. 13. The convention will be held at the Lake Como Nudist Community and Resort.
Arlene Reed, marketing director for the resort, said it's hard to predict how many people will attend because registrations keep arriving and people still can show up any time during the week.
"It's very difficult to say because we have last-minute people come in," she said.
Lake Como is a clothes-free nude recreation resort on a 200-acre natural park setting in Lutz, near U.S. 41 and State Road 54. Lake Como is Pasco County's original nudist resort.
The convention theme is Down Memory Lane. The AANR will explore topics of interest for nude recreation. Activities for the week include workshops, sports, organized activities and musical entertainment.
Convention goers will participate in many of the typical sporting activities that happen at the resort, such as tennis, horseshoes, darts and shuffleboard, Reed said.
Classes and workshops also will be offered on such topics as Polynesian dance, astrology, writing and the history of nudism.
"We're looking forward to having a lot of people from different parts of the U.S. and Canada," Reed said.
