New Port Richey man threatens wife with guns, hatchet
A New Port Richey man was arrested late Saturday night after threatening his wife with two guns and a hatchet, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. Jessica Maier was in her Terra Ceia Avenue home about 10 p.m. Saturday when her husband, Heiko Guenther Maier, 27, pushed her on a bed, grabbed her by the throat and threatened her with a hatchet in his raised right hand, deputies said. Once she got up from the bed, Heiko Maier, who had been drinking heavily, retrieved an AK-47 from a closet, deputies said. As Jessica Maier attempted to get off the bed, he pushed her back down, according to the arrest report. He did not point the AK-47 at her, she told deputies. During the fight, the couple's 18-month-old son was asleep in the bed and was awakened by the commotion. As Jessica Maier held their son, she attempted to leave the room, but Heiko Maier told her to stay, placed a black revolver to her head and began choking her for a second time, deputies said. When deputies arrived and questioned Heiko Maier, he told deputies, "I wanted to blow her brains out," according to the report. The arrest report said he later told authorities, "I should have done it because all of this would be over." Heiko Maier remains in the Land O' Lakes jail on two counts of aggravated strangulation and three counts of aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony. His bail has been set at $170,000.
