Man stole 7 guns, deputies say

A New Tampa man was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with stealing more than $6,000 worth of guns from his girlfriend's father's Wesley Chapel home, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. Mathew Allen Wilson Jr., 22, of 10622 Cedar Pine Drive was watching the home and dog belonging to his girlfriend's father on July 7 when he stole seven guns from the house, deputies said. The guns were valued at $6,700, an arrest report said. Before detectives questioned Wilson, he gave six of the seven guns to his girlfriend to return to her father, according to deputies. Wilson is charged with grand theft of a firearm. He remains in the Land O' Lakes Jail with bail set at $5,000.
