Hopeful entertainers try out for showcase of talent

DADE CITY — Pasco County talent auditioned in the Dan Cannon Auditorium at the Pasco County Fairgrounds Saturday looking to compete in the talent show during fair week.

Forty-six acts, including solos and groups, will take to the stage Feb. 17 to try to win trophies and cash at the annual show.

“I think it went a lot easier than my first year,” said Showcase of Talent director Brenda Rubio, a member of the Pasco County Fair Association board of directors. Last year was her first year taking on the job of running the event. Pasco County Fair Association President LeeAnn John emceed the auditions.

“I felt LeeAnn did a great job emceeing,” Rubio said. She said someone else will take that job during this year’s fair.

Rubio said that this year she allowed some to audition by video who were not able to make the auditions Saturday. Everyone who auditioned was advanced to the fair competition.

The 67th annual Pasco County Fair will run Feb. 17 to 23. The Pasco Showcase of Talent competition will be at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 17 in the Dan Cannon Auditorium. The show is free with fair admission.
