Homeless mom, daughter accused of stealing from Pasco Walmart

A mother and daughter were arrested and accused of stealing from a Land O’ Lakes Walmart Sunday, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.

Diane Williams, 55, and Norma Jean Mary Burns, 74, were inside Walmart, 1575 Land O’ Lakes Blvd., at 4:30 p.m. when they took more than $340 worth of clothing and electronics, according to the arrest report.

The pair, who are homeless, attempted to leave the store from the grocery section and when approached by employees, they produced a two-day-old receipt, deputies said.

They attempted to leave through another entrance as well, but were caught and arrested.

Williams is charged with retail theft and remains in the Land O’ Lakes Jail on a Pinellas County warrant for violating her probation for grand theft.

Burns, also charged with retail theft, was released Monday after posting a $2,000 bond.
