Two fundraisers are planned to benefit the family of Chad Oulson, the 43-year-old father who was shot to death in a Wesley Chapel movie theater last month.
Oulson, of Land O’ Lakes, is survived by his wife, Nicole, and 23-month-old daughter, Alexis. Money raised at a charity golf tournament and motorcycle drawing will go to a fund set up to assist them.
“As I have stated many times in the past, Nicole Oulson has never asked for help but she is more appreciative than words can convey,” her attorney, TJ Grimaldi, said in a news release.
The golf tournament is scheduled for noon March 8 at the Scotland Yards Golf Club in Dade City. Cost is $45 per player or $165 per foursome, with a $300 hole sponsorship available. There will also be a silent auction. For information, call (352) 567-7600.
Entries for a drawing to win a 2013 Suzuki C90T BOSS motorcycle cost $25 per ticket. According to a Facebook page for the family fund, the drawing will take place five days after 2,000 tickets are sold. For details, go to www.chadraffle.com.
On Jan. 13, Oulson was with his wife, Nicole, during movie previews and texted their babysitter to check on their daughter, authorities said. Curtis Reeves Jr.,71, sitting with his wife behind the Oulsons, complained about the texting, leading to a confrontation between the men, authorities said.
A one point, popcorn was thrown at Reeves, who pulled out a gun and fatally shot Oulson, authorities said. Reeves is being held without bail at the Pasco County Jail.
