Four students accused of vandalism at Mitchell High
Four students were arrested Tuesday and Wednesday for a weekend prank targeting Mitchell High School, according to the Pasco Sheriff’s Office. Three of the teens were charged with misdemeanor trespassing while a fourth teen was charged with felony vandalism, Pasco Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Melanie Snow said. Late Friday night, the quartet entered the school property and painted the trunks of several palm trees on the interior portion of the campus green, Snow said. The group, all males, also splashed paint on portions of the school’s walls and dumped 200 cigarillo packages around the campus. Before leaving, nails were thrown in the student parking area, causing damage to several car tires the following Monday. There was no estimate to how much damage the prank caused, Snow said. Two of the males arrested are current Mitchell students, while one of the suspects attends Anclote High School. The fourth was a former Mitchell student who had been expelled from the school last year, Snow said. Deputy Joseph Khoeler, the student resource officer at Mitchell, arrested the two MHS students on campus.
