A 65-year-old Zephyrhills man was killed Tuesday afternoon when he lost control of his car following a medical emergency.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the unidentified driver was traveling southbound in the outside lane of U.S. 301, south of Centennial Road, when he lost control.
The FHP said he drove onto the shoulder and collided with a concrete drainage ditch before colliding with a wooden power pole.
The driver was pronounced dead at Florida Hospital, the FHP said. Passenger Sheryl Rice, 57, of Zephyrhills, was hospitalized with minor injuries.
