A Wesley Chapel woman was arrested Wednesday in connection with an October road rage incident in which she allegedly stabbed another driver while stopped at a traffic light in New Port Richey, according to the Pasco Sheriff’s Office.
Ariana Alexandra Gaton, 19, 29443 Allegro Drive, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
On Oct. 9 at the intersection of Starkey Boulevard and River Crossing Drive, Gaton and another woman, Ariella Vanko, became involved in an argument while stopped at a traffic light, according to an arrest report.
Gaton exited her car, approached the second vehicle and began shouting at Vanko, 21, who sitting in the driver’s seat, deputies said. During the confrontation, Gaton also threw a CD inside Vanko’s car.
As Gaton walked back to her car, Vanko got out of her car and the two began to fight. At some point, Vanko was stabbed multiple times in her stomach and left shoulder.
Gaton told deputies she armed herself with the knife she kept by her driver’s seat after walking back to her car and seeing the woman approaching. She told deputies she originally went back to her car to get her phone, but Vanko began hitting her.
Vanko was taken to a local hospital for treatment, where she is listed in serious condition with non-life threatening injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.
Gaton was released from the Land O’ Lakes Jail after posting a $10,000 bond.
