Deputies: Man tried to sneak drugs into Pasco jail

A New Port Richey man was charged Thursday with attempting to sneak drugs into the Pasco County jail after LSD was found in his insulin pump, according to the Pasco Sheriff’s Office.

Charles Edward Howard II, 18, was arrested Thursday morning by New Port Richey police for a violation of a pretrial release. As he was being booked into the Land O’ Lakes Jail, a small sheet of paper containing nine small squares was found inside a plastic bag tucked inside the battery compartment of his insulin pump, the arrest report said.

The squares tested positive for LSD, according to deputies.

Howard, 6623 Shelby St., was charged with possession of LSD and introduction of contraband into a detention facility. He released from jail after positing a $7,600 bond.
