SAN ANTONIO — A 20-year-old Dade City man was arrested Friday in connection with a June 2 drug-related shooting at San Ann Liquors, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said.
Eric Howard Jr., who lives on Acorn Loop, faces charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, burglary of an unoccupied residence and resisting arrest without violence, sheriff’s records said.
Quantius Lamar Thomas, 20, of 37480 Acorn Loop, Dade City is listed as Howard’s codefendant in the shooting.
Just before 8 p.m. on June 2, Howard and Thomas attempted to rob two victims during a drug deal behind the bar, a sheriff’s report said. San Ann Liquors is located at 32652 State Road 52.
When Howard and Thomas pulled guns, the victims attempted to flee; Howard chased one down and put a gun to his head, the report said.
When the other victim tried to drive away, Howard shot through the windshield, striking the victim in the neck, the report said.
Thomas was arrested June 23 and charged with attempted murder, assault with intent to commit a felony and other charges, records show.
Howard was arrested Friday after sheriff’s deputies and Dade City police officers spotted him at the Dade Oaks apartments, records show.
Howard ran into an unlocked apartment that wasn’t his, but was eventually arrested, the sheriff’s report said.
Howard and Thomas were both being held in the Land O’ Lakes Jail on Monday without bail.
