Deputies: Brooksville mom stepped out of moving car while holding toddler

A Brooksville mother was arrested in Lutz early Sunday and charged with child neglect after stepping out of a moving car while holding her toddler, according to the Pasco Sheriff’s Office.

Just before 3 a.m., Erin Marie Doyle, 26, was in the front passenger seat of her fiancé’s car arguing with him, an arrest report said.

As her fiancé made a U-turn in a parking lot, Doyle, holding the 20-month-old girl, opened the car door and stepped out, according to deputies.

Doyle, 11235 Peach Blossom Road, fell to the ground, rolling several times with the baby in her arms. The fall caused a scrape on the child’s right cheek and left shin.

The incident was witnessed by several people in the parking lot, the report said.

When deputies arrived, they described Doyle as having the strong odor of alcohol coming from her.

Doyle, who was arrested at the Residence Inn Tampa hotel, off State Road 54 near the Suncoast Parkway in Lutz, was released from jail Sunday afternoon after posting a $5,000 bond.
