HOLIDAY — A Holiday chiropractor was released Monday night after being questioned in a shooting at his office that left one man seriously injured, according to the Pasco Sheriff’s Office.
Dr. Lenny Linardos, 46, was named a person of interest and questioned by investigators in the shooting of Jaime Velez, 34, said Melanie Snow, spokeswoman for the Pasco Sheriff’s Office.
No charges have been filed against Linardos, Snow said.
Calls to Linardos’ attorney were not immediately returned.
About 11 a.m. Monday, Velez entered The West Coast Spine and Injury Center, 1817 U.S. 19 in Holiday, and went into Linardos’ back office. Moments later, a confrontation took place between Velez and Linardos, according to deputies.
Linardos, Velez and a nurse were the only people inside the office at the time of the shooting, Snow said.
The nurse was not a witness to the shooting, Snow said.
The sheriff’s office received two 911 calls after the shooting — one from a nearby business and another call from the nurse, who has not been identified.
Velez, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, was transported to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point and is listed in critical, but stable condition, according to the sheriff’s office.
No relationship between Linardos and Velez was released by the sheriff’s office, but the men are friends on Facebook.
Linardos created 1-877-Ask-Koby, a hotline for referring those involved in accidents to doctors and lawyers, in October 2004.
