Brush fire closes portion of State Road 471 in Pasco
A brush fire near Dade City has shut down a portion of State Road 471, according to the Florida Department of Transportation. The road is closed from State Road 50 to U.S. 98 due to a brush fire that has consumed at least 50 acres, according to Pasco County Fire Rescue dispatch. The road is expected to be shut down for the remainder of the day and into the night. Motorists will need to find an alternate route. Pasco County Fire Rescue and Florida Forest Service members responded to the brush fire, located near the intersection of S.R. 471 and Gulledge Lane, about 1:32 p.m. The fire, which is 40 percent contained, initially burned about 4 acres.There have been no reports of injuries or damage to any homes, according to Pasco Fire Rescue. Pasco deputies have been called to assist with traffic control.
