Teen accused of firing BBs at vehicles in Dade City
A Dade City teen accused of shooting out the window of an occupied dump truck with a BB gun was arrested early Tuesday morning after he drove his car into a ditch, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office. About 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jose Ignacio Olmos, 18, of 31830 Trilby Road, began to fire the BB gun at the window of a dump truck, deputies said. Because the window did not initially break, he fired several times until the window shattered. The shards of glass hit the driver, cutting him, deputies said. Olmos admitted to a deputy that he drove around Dade City shooting at several occupied cars with his BB gun. He said he was “just having fun,” according to the arrest report. At some point, the gray 2010 Toyota Olmos was driving left the road and went into a ditch. A Florida Highway Patrol trooper said he noticed the smell of alcohol on Olmos’ breath when he began to interview him, the report said. The trooper also reported Olmos’ eyes were red and watery and that he was unsteady on his feet. After performing a field sobriety test, Olmos blew a .114 blood alcohol content reading on a Breathalyzer, followed by a .108. A person is considered impaired at .08. Olmos, charged with DUI, criminal mischief and throwing a deadly missile, remains in the Land O’ Lakes Jail. Bail was set at $10,150.
