Armed landlord barges into tenants' home, Pasco deputies say
An armed landlord was arrested after he entered a Dade City rental property early Friday and blamed the tenants for his cat's death and mother's bad health, Pasco deputies said. Eddie Lawrence Auton, 62, went to his rental property at 40662 River Rd. just after 5 a.m. and began loudly banging on the door, deputies said. A man answered the door with the chain still attached and Auton began yelling at the him and his wife, accusing their dog of killing his cat, deputies said. He also blamed the couple for his mother's bad health, deputies said. Auton, of 40646 River Rd., who had a semiautomatic handgun holstered on his belt, forced the door open by breaking the chain from the door and entered the house, deputies said. Auton called the man a "dead man" and threatened to kill him, deputies said.The couple and their 4-year-old son told deputies they feared for their lives. Auton was arrested and charged with armed burglary and aggravated assault. He was released from the Land O'Lakes Jail Saturday morning after posting a $55,000 bond.
