TAMPA – Jesuit High School is known for a lot of things, ranging from sports to academics, but it got some major props from the Florida High School Athletic Association.
Jesuit was ranked No. 1 among all boys athletic programs in Class 5A as its Academic Team Champion. The data, which measures cumulative grade point averages for the fall sports season, showed Jesuit to have the highest ranking in its class.
The Tigers scored 33 points in the scoring, ranking far ahead of Gulf Breeze and Orlando Bishop Moore. Jesuit was ranked fifth when boys and girls totals were combined. Jesuit is an all boys school.
In the Tampa Bay region, Jesuit ranked the highest of any boys athletic program regardless of classification. Its bowling team had the highest grade point average of any school in all of Florida. Golf finished second, swimming was third, football was fifth and cross-country ranked 14th.
In the Tampa Bay area, in all schools of all classifications, bowling and golf ranked first overall in team grade point average. Swimming finished second, football third, and cross-country sixth.
The Tigers fared equally well on the field. All five of Jesuit’s sports teams won district titles.
