Tampa motorcyclist hospitalized after Temple Terrace crash
TEMPLE TERRACE – A 26-year-old Tampa man was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash this morning in Temple Terrace. Benjamin Frederick Lankford, of 14621 Grenadine Drive, Apt. 1, Tampa, was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital where he was listed in critical condition, the Temple Terrace police said. Witnesses said Lankford was northbound about 8:48 a.m. on 56th Street, weaving in and out of traffic near the intersection with Park Ridge Avenue, police said. A Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Arvid Martin, 60, of 315 Park Ridge Ave., Temple Terrace, was turning left to go southbound on 56th Street when his vehicle was struck by Lankford’s motorcycle, police said.The motorcycle then struck a utility pole, throwing Lankford from the bike, police said. Martin was not injured. The crash remains under investigation.
