TEMPLE TERRACE — You can learn about urban farming while gathering your own salad at an edible garden party to promote establishment of a Farm to Fork program at Greco Middle School.
Admission is free, and plant cuttings from Tanja and Jared Vidovic’s Sulphur Springs urban farm will be available for a donation.
Beer and wine will be sold and a raffle will be held. Proceeds will go to support the school’s Farm to Fork program.
Greco Middle School has a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) option and features agriculture and culinary arts programs. Temple Terrace Community Gardens helped develop some of the school property into garden plots for community and school use.
A Farm to Fork program is one way to integrate the agricultural and culinary programs with a goal of producing local, seasonal crops that can be served at the school.
The event is Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at 8503 N. 28th St., Tampa. Attendees are asked to park at Rowlett Park.
