Five adults and a child escaped a fire that severely damaged a house late Friday night in Tampa.
Firefighters entered the home at 7010 N. Hale Ave. and extinguished the blaze within 20 minutes, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue reported.
One adult was awake when the fire started and alerted the other residents, who were sleeping at the time, Fire Rescue spokesman Ronnie Rivera said. The home was not protected by smoke alarms, Rivera said.
No injuries were reported.
Red Cross is assisting the residents with food, shelter and clothing, Rivera said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
