Once again, an annual summer camp is giving young burn victims a chance to get together and share their feelings of pain and recovery.
In its 24th year, Camp Hopetake, a weeklong summer camp for children ages 5-17 who have suffered burn injuries, is open at the USF campus.
The camp, which opened Wednesday, is hosted by Adventure Island and is free to campers. It is made available through funding from Tampa General Hospital, the Tampa General Hospital Foundation and Tampa Firefighters Local 754, and TGH employees and firefighters will serve as the camp counselors.
TGH is home to the region’s only burn center.
