The 6-year-old boy who was struck by an SUV in northeast Tampa near the University of South Florida on Tuesday night has died, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.
At around 6:18 p.m., Yves Zamora was riding a scooter in the driveway of the Harvest Hope Center at 13704 N. 20th St., less than 200 feet from his home, before he traveled into the road and into the path of a Nissan Xterra driven by Jack Bradley, 65, of Tampa, deputies said.
Bradley tried to swerve, but wasn’t able to avoid hitting Zamora, deputies said. Bradley is not facing charges in the accident.
The boy was transported to Tampa General Hospital where he died this morning, deputies said.
