St. Petersburg woman dies in single-car crash

A St. Petersburg woman was killed early this morning when she lost control of her SUV and struck a guardrail.

St. Petersburg police say Anita Maria Sanchez, 41, was seen passing several vehicles eastbound on Roosevelt Boulevard, approaching the Interstate-275 overpass, when she lost control of her 2004 GMC Envoy and left the roadway.

Sanchez, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from her vehicle, police say.

She was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where she was later pronounced dead, police say.
