Rhode Island pedestrian killed on I-75 in Tampa

A pedestrian from Rhode Island was killed Tuesday night when he was struck by a car on I-75 in Tampa.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 66-year-old man Fred E. Butler of Providence, R.I., was walking in the southbound lane of I-75 around 11:30 p.m. when he was struck by a 2010 Infiniti driven by 39-year-old Jason Henriques, of Tampa.

Butler died at the scene, the FHP said.

Henriques was not intoxicated at the time of the crash, the FHP said, and toxicology reports on Butler are pending.
