A Thonotosassa motorcyclist was killed in a head-on crash Wednesday night after troopers say he drifted into the wrong lane.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 35-year-old Jason Dale Joiner was riding southbound on U.S. HIghway 301, just north of the Hillsborough-Pasco county line, around 11:10 p.m. when he traveled into the northbound lane for an unknown reason.
To avoid a collision, 67-year-old Joann Kraft, of Zephyrhills drove her 2004 Chevrolet Impala into the southbound lane, troopers say.
As she did, Joiner corrected back into the southbound lane but rode into the Kraft’s path, striking her head-on.
Joiner, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene, troopers say.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the FHP said.
