TAMPA — A man threatening to harm himself was arrested by Tampa police on Tuesday after a three-hour standoff.
Ronald Ellis, 36, allegedly refused to come outside of a house on the 3000 block of W Wyoming Avenue, police said. Police did not specify if Ellis had a weapon or what started the incident. Ellis allegedly told police he would not leave the house and that they would have to kill him, police said.
Another man was in the house, but he was able to leave unharmed.
Tampa Tactical Response Team was at the scene for much of the ordeal. The suspect requested a Newport cigarette, which Tampa Police gave him, and the suspect surrendered.
No one was harmed during the ordeal.
