Teen remains hospitalized after Sunday stabbing in Tampa
A 19-year-old victim of a stabbing Sunday remains hospitalized as detectives investigate a connection between that attack and a fatal one the same night, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Luis Rivers is in stable condition at St. Joseph's Hospital, the sheriff's office said. According to deputies, about 7 p.m. Sunday, Rivers entered the 7-Eleven at 4001 Waters Ave. with multiple stab wounds and covered in blood. About an hour later, deputies say an anonymous caller alerted them to a man lying in a drainage ditch at West Waters Avenue and North Lois Avenue.Paramedics found that the man, Ovidio Sanchez, 45, had been stabbed multiple times in a ditch next to a strip mall. They attempted to revive him, but he later died. Because of the proximity of the incidents and other factors, detectives believe the stabbings are related. Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff's office at (813) 247-8200.
