St. Pete chief leads sessions on police shootings
ST. PETERSBURG - The St. Petersburg police chief is leading a session to discuss shooting tactics and policy in the aftermath of three city officers fatally shot in the line of duty this year. Chief Chuck Harmon plans the meeting with representatives from other law enforcement agencies on Thursday. The department says Harmon decided to plan the session after the shooting deaths of Officer Jeffrey Yaslowitz and Sgt. Thomas Baitinger on Jan. 24, and the slaying of Officer David Crawford on Feb. 21. It also will cover issues such as training, equipment and critical stress management support provided to officers and their families after a crisis.
