Sarasota police seek help to identify armed robbery suspect
Sarasota police are searching for a woman they say robbed a man at gunpoint and forced him to try to withdraw cash from an ATM on Monday. According to police, the 70-year old victim said at 9 p.m. that he had just exited Barnes and Noble, 4010 S. Tamiami Trail, when he was approached in the parking lot by a white woman who asked him for a ride. When he refused, the woman pulled a handgun from her large straw purse and demanded to be taken to an ATM. She then got in the passenger side of the victim's vehicle. After failed attempts to use the ATM at Sun Trust Bank, 3400 S. Tamiami Trail, the woman took cash from the victim's wallet, then exited the victim's vehicle and was last seen walking northbound through the bank parking lot. The suspect is described as 5-foot-6 with a thin build, with long dark hair that was slicked back into a bun/pony tail.Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to call (941) 954-7091.
