Ruskin couple rescue dog with jar stuck on his head
The stray dog may not have had any friends before, but he does now. For the better part of a week, the dog wandered around a Ruskin neighborhood with a plastic jar over his head. "From a distance, I thought it was a dog that just had surgery that had one of those little neck collars on, and I thought, 'Oh my God, he got out of somebody's house," said Janet Messer, who found the stray dog. "As I got closer, I saw the whole front of his face was covered in plastic and his head was in a jar."Messer and her boyfriend Wesley Mobley got the whole neighborhood to search for the dog. "We just knew that his life was going to come to an end … if he didn't get this jar off his head," Mobley said. "He couldn't eat, drink or … run. He was especially breathing heavy … it couldn't be healthy." A couple of days later, the couple dragged the ailing pup out of some bushes. The animal was so thin, his ribs were showing. Messer and Mobley cleaned up the dog and took him to Care Clinic, a no-kill shelter, where he's being prepared for possible adoption. "He'll make someone a great dog," Mobley said.
