Overnight fire in apartment building attic damages four units in Temple Terrace

Four apartments were damaged in a fire that started in the attic of an apartment building Wednesday night in Temple Terrace.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded to the fire around 7:30 p.m. at Carlton Arms North, at 13205 Thomasville Circle. Crews from the Temple Terrace Fire Department also responded to the call.

Upon arrival, fire crews saw flames shooting through the roof of building #48.

Firefighters forced entry to the apartment below the attic fire and began to extinguish the flames, officials said.

Four apartments were involved, officials said. Two have major water damage and two have smoke damage. All residents were evacuated before firefighters arrived and there were no injuries reported.

The quick reaction to the fire saved eight neighboring units from being damaged, officials said.

The Tampa Bay chapter of the Red Cross was called to assist the displaced residents.
