WESLEY CHAPEL — A fire that broke out Monday at a Wesley Chapel home led to the discovery of a room with marijuana plants, the Pasco Sheriff's Office said.
No one was injured, and the homeowner, Linda Roper, managed to get out safely. After the fire was put out, further investigation revealed it started in a room where partial marijuana plants and other items commonly used in grow houses were found, deputies said. In other parts of the home, two medium-sized jars were found containing felony amounts of marijuana, deputies said.
Roper told deputies that her grandson, Bradley Roper, and his girlfriend lived in the room and were out of town in Georgia to watch the solar eclipse.
No arrests have been made, but the investigation is ongoing.
