Tampa police arrest 24-year-old man in connection to fatal shooting of store clerk

TAMPA — Police have arrested a 24-year-old Tampa man and charged him with murder in connection with Sunday's shooting death of a convenience store clerk.

According to Tampa police, Christopher Antonio Sheffield fatally shot Mohamoud Ibrahim, 60, during a robbery at the 29th Street Store, 2802 N 29th St.

Police arrested Sheffield about 4 a.m. Monday after receiving a tip that he might be hiding out in a Tampa apartment complex.

According to investigators, Sheffield shot Ibrahim about 12:30 p.m.

Using video surveillance footage and information from witnesses, detectives soon identified Sheffield as a suspect.

Jail records show he was arrested at 4701 Muskogee Court, which is the address of the Seminole Park Apartments.

He is charged with first-degree murder, robbery with a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

He was being held without bail in the Hillsborough County jail.
