Pasco Deputies: Man climbs into bed with sleeping woman after multiple burglaries

NEW PORT RICHEY — A man who ended a series of burglaries by breaking into the home of a sleeping woman, where he climbed into her bed, was arrested Monday afternoon, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said.

Russel Smith, 42, now faces three felony charges after a string of burglaries on Bourbon Street, Kosimo Street and Kiowa Drive, deputies said.

Smith was arrested about 2:40 p.m. on Kiowa Drive after deputies searching for Smith found him inside the woman's home. Deputies said when Smith entered the home on Kiowa Drive, he drank beer from the refrigerator, then took 10 milligrams of Diazepam, an anti-anxiety medication.

Smith is being held in the Land O'Lakes Detention Center in lieu of $30,000 bail.
