TAMPA — Four people standing in a crowd were hit by bullets during a drive-by shooting near Robles Park in Tampa late Friday, Tampa police said.
The victims were being treated at local hospitals for injuries that are not life threatening, police said.
The victims told police that a mini-van type vehicle drove by around 11 p.m. and shot into a crowd of people standing outside in the 400 block of East Nordica Street.
The four victims are Ronnie O'Neil, 29, and Anthony Lewis, 28, who have no known address, and Ruby Alexander, 33, and Donnie Miller, 27, both of Tampa.
The scene of the shooting is north of Robles Park and East Lake Avenue, between Interstate 275 and Florida Avenue.
It is about a mile southwest of the area in Southwest Seminole Heights where one of three people were found shot dead during the last two weeks in what police say are related, possibly random shootings.
Tampa police spokesman Steve Hegarty said investigators do not believe Friday's shooting is related to the Seminole Heights killings.
"It doesn't fit the M.O. at all and it's not in the same area," he said.
Hegarty said the victims of the drive-by were not cooperating with investigators Saturday, so details about what lead up to the shooting remain unclear.
