St. Petersburg man accused of critically wounding girlfriend in shooting

ST. PETERSBURG — Police on Wednesday arrested a man accused of shooting his girlfriend on Tuesday night.

James Brown, 52, is being held without bail at the Pinellas County Jail on counts of attempted first-degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm.

He is accused of shooting Philandria Nero, in her home at 920 20th St. S. She remains in critical condition at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, police said.

No one else was home at the time of the shooting.

Police said the incident was an act of domestic violence, but did not release any other details.
