TAMPA — A 24-year-old motorcyclist died Monday morning after he lost control on Interstate 275 and was struck by a semi-trailer, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Josue Adam Vallejo, of Wesley Chapel, was riding southbound on I-275, north of Bearss Avenue, when he lost control and overturned at about 8 a.m.
Vallejo landed on the outside shoulder of the roadway, the FHP said, and then was struck by a semitrailer truck driven by Antwaun L. Ford, 39, of Orange Park.
Vallejo died at the scene, FHP said.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, troopers said. The crash closed all southbound lanes of I-275 near the Bearss Avenue exit early Monday.
