Polk man sought in hotel slaying of Orlando musician
Polk County deputies have issued a warrant for the arrest of a Lake Wales man in the slaying of a popular Orlando musician outside a motel Saturday morning. Deputies have obtained a warrant for the arrest of Calvin Deon Jones, 26, who was charged with felony murder and armed robbery in the death of Damien Dominique Rahim. Rahim, born in Trinidad, was a hip hop and reggae performer who went by the stage name of Khamelien. About 100 people attended a vigil for Rahim on Saturday night at an Orlando bar. Deputies found Rahim dead in a car parked at the Days Inn, 2425 Frontage Road, off U.S. 27, after receiving a call at 9:20 p.m. Saturday, the sheriff's office said.Jones was positively identified as the suspect in Rahim's slaying, deputies said. He was at the motel at the same time as his vehicle, which is seen in a surveillance video and which deputies believe is involved in the crime, the sheriff's office said. Deputies said Jones was released from state prison in March 2011 for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
