Polk house fire displaces three families
Three families were displaced after a fire destroyed their home in Eagle Lake on Thursday, Polk County Fire Rescue said. Fire Rescue received the call around 4 p.m. When units arrived at 4111 Old Eagle Lake/Winter Haven Road, they found the entire front of the house engulfed in flames. The wood frame house suffered extensive heat, smoke and water damage. The two-story house was built in the early 1900s. The Florida State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. The American Red Cross is assisting the families.
